Rockwool

Rockwool

Rockwool products are free from gases such as CFC, HCFC and any other ozone depletion material. They represent no known threat to the environment. Rock wool is classified as zero depletion potential (ODP), zero global warming potential (GWP) and help in reducing green house effect. Rockwool slabs are semi rigid panels manufactured from stable stone fibers bonded with minimum quantity of thermosetting resin binder. They are capable of withstanding an extreme temperature up to 750⁰ C.

Rockwool is made from a special grade of rocks named as basalt. Rock wool is called in the names of stone wool insulation, mineral wool insulation, or slag wool insulation. Rock wool has a wide range of insulation applications due to its excellent

ability to block sound, thermal and fire. Rock wool is light in weight , strong , re-silent, easy to handle and cut to suit intricate shapes.

Environment:

Rockwool products are free from gases such as CFC, HCFC any other ozone depletion material. Rock wool is classified as zero depletion potential (ODP) and zero Global warming potential (GWP) and help in reducing green house effect.

Facings:

Rockwool slabs, blankets and pipes are available unfaced or with a facing of glass reinforced aluminimum kraft (FSK), black fibre glass tissue, packed in black poly bags, and wire mesh option depending on the application.

Density: Rock wool density ranges from 35 to 200 Kg/m3 depending on the application.

Products Available :

  • Standard size slabs or panels both facing and unfaced
  • Panels with black poly bag facing
  • Blankets / rolls with GI wire mesh or FSK or acoustic liner facing
  • Pipe section with or without facing
  • Loose wool

Application Temperature : Maximum 750° C.

Size:

  • Standard size for panels : 1200x600x50/75mm or multilayer
  • Standard size of the blankets : 1.2 x 20 meter rolls

Rockwool high density slabs conforming to ASTM C 612 and equivalent BS – 3958-5 are designed for the thermal and acoustic insulation of flat or slightly curved surfaces operating at temperatures up to 750 º C. These high density slabs are produced from long, non combustible fibers designed to bear high loads. They are easy to cut, fit and handle. The robust fibers combine high levels of thermal efficiency and acoustic absorption.

Applications: Designed for a wide range of applications at both high and low service temperatures, It is suitable for applications where high compressive strengths are required and where the insulation is subjected to mechanical loads and vibrations. They are ideal for traffic areas and ideal insulation for tank roofs.

Standard Delivery: Rockwool products are available in densities of 40 to 200 kg/m3, in standard widths of 600 mm and lengths of 1000 and 1200 mm. Thickness vary from 30 to 120 mm. Other sizes are available on request.

Thermal Conductivity: Rockwool products show low thermal conductivity values. Typical figures are shown below as tested in accordance with BS 874 : 1986, and equivalent ASTMC – 177/C – 518
